5G-Enabled Mission-Critical Communication for Smart Mining Operations

Amlohri Mine is among the early mining environments in India adopting broadband mission-critical communication over a private 5G network. The project demonstrates how next-generation communication technologies can transform operational coordination, worker safety and situational awareness in high-risk industrial environments.

The primary contract for the private 5G communication system was awarded to C-DAC, with Consort Digital responsible for deploying and integrating the MCX ONE mission-critical communication platform. Since December 2025, the MCX system has been successfully commissioned and tested at site as part of the ongoing operational rollout.

The deployment enables mission-critical voice, video and data communication between control rooms, field personnel, security teams and operational staff across the mining environment.

Mining operations require continuous communication across large and often hazardous environments where operational delays or communication failures can directly impact worker safety and productivity.

The project required:

Consort Digital deployed the MCX ONE mission-critical communication platform over a private 5G network environment at Amlohri Mine.

The deployment included:

• ✔Real-time location tracking and geo-fencing capabilities
• ✔Integration of communication workflows between field teams and command environments
